This is a new beautiful blacksmith post vice imported from Europe. All steel, no wrought iron. Lathe turned handle, clean new screw. Built for heavy use. This vise is heavy and has 6 inch jaws. This brand new vise is a thing of beauty for the blacksmith/metalsmith or bladesmith. It has a heavy steel shroud that protects the new steel screw. The jaws have serrations, but this is easily dealt with by using a set of aluminum or copper jaws inserts from your local scrap yard. Should you have a problem finding jaw inserts I can supply these also. These are only two pieces of rectangular aluminum plates 1/4" thick that I forge into an angle iron shape that you place on the vise jaws to prevent your hot work from being marked by the gripping serrations on the jaws. Notice the plate that you use to attach the vise to it's stand is adjustable up and down. So you can use the vise at a low position for heavy foring with a sledge or move it up to elbow height do fine work with a file or chisel or engraver. This means you almost have two vises in one.
